I have used this pattern before - here - it´s the same size and I only made the ruffle part longer and used stretch instead of single jersey. I also accentuated the seams and the bottom hem with foe (fold-over-elastic).

Linen dress

After an early summer break I am back in my sewing room!

This dress immediately caught my eye when I flicked through the Burda 05/2014 issue (model 133 in size 34). It seemed like a comfortable, easy-sewing, easy-living summer dress - and it is!

This beach dress is as easy to wear as it is to make! Front and back pieces are exactly the same so you just need to slip it over your head and you are ready to go! I used strips of black stretchjersey to neaten the armholes and neckline.

I failed to deliver a finished garment this last monday - and I totally underestimated the time that I would need to finish this little cropped blouse with the puff sleeves - it was quite quick to sew up until I made the finishing touches: I did all top-stitching by hand with a thicker cotton thread that I once bought for an embroidery project and I usead really big and bold stitches. Sadly, this was meant to be a test-garment and so I used a quite small remnant I grabbed at the fabric store a few weeks back and there was not enough fabric to line up the pattern in all pieces.

Simple instructions

The pattern is from a japanese book called "good looking" and I changed it a little bit by not adding the opening in the front! It is wide enough to comfortably put it one by just pulling it over my head. I even cut away the seam allowance on the vertical seams and now it sits really well in the front and the back without looking baggy - a little better on my body than on the doll ;-)

Japan-Sew-Along: Endlich konkret! - Teil2

Hier sind jetzt auch unsere Flamingo-Badekleider!
Leider war das Wetter heute so gar nicht sommerlich und so gibt es von den Kleidern nur Bilder am Haken :-(

Für die Missy habe ich ein paar Flamingos mit rosa Stoffmalfarbe und einem Silberglitzerstift verhübscht, damit ihr Badekleid nicht nur grau-weiß ist, sondern auch einen kindlichen Touch hat.

Mein Kleid habe ich um ca. 10 cm gekürzt - das Original kam mir im Buch schon unvorteilhaft lang vor. Weitere Änderungen: ich haber für beide Kleider FOE (fold over elastic) verwendet, um Ausschnitte, Schulternähte und Säume einzufassen. Geht schnell und sieht nett aus. Das FOE von der Missy ist glossy pink und das schwarze von mir hat vorne eine kleine Rüschenkante. Die Mitte habe ich jeweils mit elastischer Spitze betont.

Info zu den Schnittmustern findet ihr hier. Der Flamingo-Stoff ist ein recht dünner Jersey und super angenehm zu tragen.
Irgendwann gibt es dann auch Tragefotos, versprochen ;-) Nächsten Montag gibt es dann auch hier wieder ein weiteres Japan-Sew-Along Nähprojekt zu sehen (hoffentlich *kicher).
